On November 01th 2020, within the framework of programs to improve yellowfin tuna fishing in Vietnam, Vietnam Tuna Association (VINATUNA) and WWF in Vietnam has organized a workshop for tuna fishing community in Phu Yen province.

VINATUNA's staffs gave a brief introduction on the requirements and regulations of the fishing log recording in fishing and market trends in data electronicization. Next, the association's staff provided detailed instructions on step by step operation in the use of the elogbook software such as account registration and data updates, etc. Answering questions of fishermen in the process of using this software. To complete the training session, the participants had to go through a test of the level of maturity to use the software, resulting in more than 75% of the fishermen completing the test well.

At the end of the workshop, the fishermen had a clear understanding of how to use, take notes and keep information with the elogbook software. VINATUNA has proposed fishermen agree to use this software pilot or not, for further evaluation through practical quality. This proposal was enthusiastically agreed and responded to by the fishermen.

The workshop held and get the attention of nearly 40 participating fishermen and tuna fishing boat owners to attend. Mr. Thong, a ship owner at Dong Tac port, Phu Yen said that the elogbook software is very useful, convenient and relatively easy to use. However, because the software is in a new stage of formation and being piloted so this software could not avoid small oversights. VINATUNA will modify and further modify this software to operate effectively and stably for offshore fishing.
Hopefully, in the near future with the support of the authorities as well as the fishermen, the elogbook software will be uses on a large scale and more professional.
